3 Things You Need to Know Before Playing an Escape Room
If you’ve never played an escape room before, you might be wondering what to expect. Not knowing what might happen is part of the fun! But I get that some people may need a little taste before they sit down for the whole meal. So I’ll throw you a bone.
There are 3 things you need to know before you play an escape room:
1. You’re in for a challenge!
If you’re playing an escape room thinking it’s going to be a cakewalk, think again. Escape rooms majorly challenge your sense of creativity and your ability to solve problems. Just take a look at our episodes escape rates: the highest is 33%. Plus, you’ve got a 60-minute time limit! Be prepared to use a lot of brain power. Fuel up on some brain food and practice creativity beforehand so you can make a smooth escape.
2. It’s not a solo sport.
We say it all the time: playing an escape room is a huge teaming opportunity! Each episode requires at least two people for a reason. When you’re playing an escape room it’s beneficial to everyone when you communicate and work together with your team. You might be the smartest person in your group, but a humble team player knows that each person’s ideas are valuable. A culture of teamwork involves humility, hunger, and awareness. Take it from NBA legend Michael Jordan who said, “Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.”
3. Open your mind to open the door
It might sound cliché but you really have to think outside of the box to get outside of the box. In an escape room, everything is not as it seems. A book might not just be a book and a brick might not just be a brick. Have an open mind when that clock starts and allow yourself to think of all the wild and wacky possibilities. Escape rooms are a safe place for each and every idea.
These three pointers will be super helpful for all escape room beginners. But if you’ve played one of our games before, you’ll want to check out how to master the Art of Escape. (Psst... You’ll also want to subscribe and stay tuned to find out our best tips for beating any escape room.)
